Just the combo: beer, bands, a good nosh and a reason to get out and enjoy some cooler air. Farsons Great Beer Festival 2011, 22-31 July.

This coming weekend sees the Farsons Great Beer Festival. It runs Friday 22 – Sunday 31 July at Ta’ Qali national park. This is its 30th year, so the 2011 edition is being seen a bit of an anniversary and certainly more than a coming of age . The Beer Festival is a mid summer institution. Whether you’re a music lover, a beer lover, or just in search some slightly cooler night air, perhaps with the family in tow (and families do go in droves; expect lots of buggies!), the Beer Festival is worth heading for at least one night in the week.

Not all who go to the Farsons Great Beer Festival are interested in all the music on offer though with such a diverse line-up you can cherry pick a night to suit. You’ll find the programme here. And beer line-up here. Since it’s billed as ‘Malta’s largest outdoor music festival’, we’ll concentrate on the bands.

The line-up is nearly all local (with one exception – an Aussie rock n’ roll band) and spans almost all tastes with something of interest to most generations. The event is about promoting new talent and bringing back popular favourites. The programme takes place on a main stage and a rock stage with around three bands / artists a night on each. Music varies from the Big Band Brothers with their exuberant blasting sound and Malta’s Eurovision entrant 2011 Glen Vella to the Rifffs with their Ska formula, heavy metal Loathe and the eclectic, ethnic-inspired sounds of Tribali. Then there’s Fakawi. In fact, Fakawi on the last night has become an institution in itself with a theatrical not just musical performance that is always a big crowd puller.

We asked the organisers what makes 2011 special and to give us some insights beyond the regular PR.

Q. Thirty years of ‘beer and bands’: how has the festival changed over the years?

Apart from the change in venue over the years, The Farsons Great Beer Festival has grown from a small weekend event to become the largest outdoor festival in Malta held over 10 days. It has grown in size to encompass the full area of Ta’ Qali National Park, twelve different bars serve the largest variety of local and international beer brands, attendance figures have grown to an estimated 10,000 visitors per night and the live performances number almost 60 over 10 days on two different and separate stages.

Q. How does the festival manage to attract a crowd that ranges from families out for an evening to more music-orientated folk who come for the live gigs?

A number of factors have made The Farsons Great Beer Festival offers a great summer night out for families with children, young people and tourists too. The variety of beers on offer in the same area, the high level of live performances from Malta’s extremely talented entertainers, artists and bands, free entrance and a large parking area all make the festival a fantastic night out. Some visitors return night after night to experience the great atmosphere and enjoy themselves with a pint of beer in the open air.

Q. What can we expect of this 30th anniversary edition of the festival? Any surprises?

This year’s international act is Roc-A-Tac, an Australian rock and roll band who will be headlining the opening night on Friday, 22nd July. Hugely popular down under, the band is the winner of the ”People’s Choice Award for Sydney’s Best Rock and Roll Band” and they have played across all of Australia, receiving great reviews from venues. This year we have also developed a dedicated iPhone App for the event as a handy tool for visitors to the festival. The Farsons Great Beer Festival iPhone App can be downloaded for free by searching ‘Farsons’ on the iTunes App Store.

Festival Info:
The festival opens from 8pm onwards each night. Ta’ Qali car park offers free parking. See location map.

Alcohol and drinking age: 17+. Show your ID card to buy alcohol if you look under 17 but aren’t.

Public Transport: Arriva Bus Number 51, 52 & 53. There seems to be a night bus, N52 to and from Ta’ Qali. But we’re checking that with Farsons just to be sure. Given Arriva’s difficult start to offering services in Malta, it’s anyone’s guess.

Here’s one of the year’s music highlights and one of our favourite events of the year. The Malta Jazz Festival runs at Ta’ Liesse Valletta from the 14th to 16th July 2011.

How time flies. The Malta Jazz Festival is officially 21 years old, an annual milestone for many lovers of the finer things in life, when world class jazz meets a world heritage city by the water.

The Jazz Festival opens this Thursday 14th July, and runs for three consecutive nights at Ta’ Liesse in Valletta. The Festival Director, Paris-based jazz guitarist Sandro Zerafa, thinks this year’s edition is the most eclectic to date – a true melting-pot of world music, showcasing the contemporary jazz scene, with musicians from Brazil, Jamaica, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Africa.

The Festival kicks off with Benin guitarist Lionel Loueke, a Blue Note recording artist and a frequent collaborator of Herbie Hancock. His unique blend of jazz and African elements will be followed by Monty Alexander and the Harlem-Kingston Express. In a career spanning five decades, Monty has built a reputation exploring and bridging the worlds of American jazz and reggae, the music of his native Jamaica.

The Malta Jazz Festival has always had a penchant for cutting-edge New York jazz – this year, it is the rising star Ambrose Akinmusire, another Blue Note recording artist and a winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. He will feature on Friday 15th July, in a double-bill with the charismatic Brazilian legend Joao Bosco, a must for lovers of samba, bossa-nova and MPB. This is the third time Bosco is playing in Malta, underlying the growing reputation of the Malta Jazz Festival on the international circuit.

Another familiar name on the New York scene featuring this year is sax player Seamus Blake, yet another laureate of the Thelonious Monk competition, who will be presenting his new electro/groove project featuring drummer Jorge Rossy.

The Festival will close with virtuoso bass-player and vocalist Avishai Cohen, whose blend of jazz, Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern influences has made him a prominent figure in world of jazz today.

The Festival will also include Maltese vocalist Nadine Axisa, the Argotti Jazz Ensemble (with musical direction by renowned musician Dominic Galea) and the quintet of guitarist Marc Galea (featuring saxophone player Robin Nicaise).
The Festival is organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts. You can check out the festival website at www.maltajazzfestival.org. For more jazz, see the Off Jazz events.

You'll need a quick wit and quick tongue to sing Għana, but thankfully it's easier to listen to! Għanafest, 10, 11 & 12 June, Argotti Gardens, Floriana.

The countries around the Mediterranean basin have more in common that just olives, limestone and sun. They nearly all have a rich culture of traditional music; a kind of homespun, vibrant, village, folkloristic and often impromptu musical heritage. This music, along with contemporary off-shoots of the traditional genres, is celebrated, now annually, in Malta’s Għanafest held in Argotti Gardens, Floriana, 10, 11 & 12 June and organised by the Malta Council for Culture & the Arts.

Ghanafest 2011 is once again more than simply three evenings renditions’ of Malta’s traditional Għana. The programme sees groups and performers from across the Mediterranean: this year’s guests include: Nakaira from Sicily; Navà ensemble with Persian music and Swing a’ la Turc quartet from Turkey. On the bill from Malta, in addition to the pure Għana performers, we find The Big Band Brothers, Trania, and singer-songwriters David Azzopardi and The Greenfields. The event is an eclectic blend of beats and rhythms with a folkloristic slant but more often than not with a contemporary sound.

For the uninitiated or just plain curious, the festival is above all a wonderful opportunity to come to grips with Maltese Għana in its various forms. If you know Għana at all, you are probably familiar with the high-pitch singing, but that is just one form. Għana covers: ‘Spirtu Pront’ (quick-wit), an improvised form of song duel (extremely difficult to perform yet done raucously and flawlessly by a few real professionals); ‘Tal-Fatt’ (factual), a composed narrative that may be fictional or based on true events; and ‘Fil-Għoli’ (high-pitched), a style of singing on a high vocal register.

Għanafest itself promises three nights of all-round Mediterranean musical fun, and it all takes place in the magical night-time setting of Argotti Gardens perched on the bastions. It goes without saying that this is a family affair. There’s an artisan fair and Maltese food on offer, as well as a series of workshops on traditional instruments and a special programme for children.

Malta's Glen Vella has one chance with 'One Life'. But his fate was perhaps already written before he went on stage. We look at the predictability of Eurovision Song Contests.

The lights are on for the first semi final tonight in the 2011 edition of the Eurovision Song Content, the final of which takes place on Saturday 14 May, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Malta’s entrant Glen is strutting his stuff and singing ‘One Life’ to win. But not in the final if we go by the predictions.

While competitors have been rehearsing for months, academics, researchers, pundits and pollsters have been working even harder. This, the world’s largest TV show, offers up myriad issues to base research networks on, and be the subject of books, columns, papers and even PhDs. Take your pick from any of the following and add ‘Eurovision’ as an epithet: nation-building; the new Europe; voter patterns; popular culture; mass media; popular engagement; geo-political affiliations; creative quality; national feelings; and more. All are subjects worthy of study that emanate from what the average viewer sees as Eurovision madness and a rather bizarre left-over from the ’60s and ’70s and the Abba era.

For the punter, the event is, at best, a night in or a night a bar somewhere, downing some alcohol to get through the jamboree of genre (mostly pop, a bit of ballad, a dash of rock and some piss-take added in) of the talented (who never make it) and the untalented who quite often do.

That a whole machine surrounds the Eurovision Song Contest is evident. We’ve all seen the blatant voting for neighbouring countries and mutual friends among the nations that take part. Malta – small, isolated and irrelevant to most geo-political voting blocs – has lost out many years on account of the politicking. We also seem not to have the clout to leverage votes behind the scenes, well before the likes of a Glen step out on stage.

Maltese-born academic and long-time Eurovision observer Dr Toni Sant, Director of Research at the University of Hull’s School of Arts & New Media, UK, says that it would be “…miraculous [if] Malta returned to the final without first establishing a significant pan-European presence for either its entry and/or the performer it selected to represent it”. Dr Sant should know. He was involved in the Malta entry back in 1991 as head of press and reporting for TVM, and runs a popular podcast on Maltese music each week. He is also in Dusseldorf right now, as a member of the Eurovision Research Network of broadcasters, journalists, bloggers, fans, and academics. Dr Sant has his own predictions here.

Glen’s demise is predicted on Eurovisionary.com by a pundit blogger here: “Apparently, Glen fancies his chances of winning. The public might go for it in reasonable numbers, but the industry professionals will see nothing in it worth scoring highly. It will be this factor that stops Maltese participation in the final.” People power in the voting isn’t enough.

There are several blogs detailing the event to the minute if you want up-to-date predictions and gossip: check out All Kinds of Everything, esctoday.com, and wiwibloggs as well as the official Eurovision site.

Good old Google has devised its own predictor tool, which from past experience has shown it’s pretty good, for an algorithm, as the picker of the winner.

Eurovision schedule:
10 May – First Semi-Final
12 May – Second Semi-Final
14 May – Grand Final

Eurovision fever discussed in Maltese: listen to Dr Sant interviewed for Australia’s SBS Radio here.

Catch Owen Pallett live at the San Gejtanu Band Club on 1st May 2011. It promises to be quite an evening.

Trust StageDive and Kinemastik to try something different.

After the wonderful Bonnie Prince Billy concert in a graveyard in 2009, you now have the opportunity for a close encounter with the eclectic Owen Pallett at the San Gejtanu Band Club in Hamrun, this Sunday 1st May.

Born in 1979, Pallett is a Canadian composer, violinist, keyboardist, and vocalist from Toronto, Ontario. He started his solo career under the name Final Fantasy, and soon gained a strong reputation for his live performances, which sometimes include cover versions ranging from indie favourites like Bloc Party, to OMD, to some very unlikely ones (The Power of Love, anyone?). Pallett’s second solo album ‘He Poos Cloud’ in 2006 went on to win the first edition of the Polaris Music Prize (Canada’s equivalent to the UK’s Mercury Awards). For his third album ‘Heartland’, Pallett enlisted the services of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The record oscillates between 19th century military music, ’70s analog synth-pop, Russian futurism and American pointillism, often in the space of a few bars.

Pallett has also collaborated with such artists as Beirut, The Last Shadow Puppets, Grizzly Bear, Pet Shop Boys and Mika. He especially shares a bond with The Arcade Fire, contributing orchestral and string arrangements on all 3 of their albums, include 2010’s Grammy-award winning ’The Suburbs’, as well as forming part of their touring line-up.

It’s difficult to nail Owen Pallett down. But he provides one of the most captivating one-man shows around – breaking new ground with what can be achieved with a violin, a keyboard and some loop pedals.

Tickets at Euros 15 can be prebooked by emailing stagedivemalta@gmail.com, calling StageDive on 99459555 or Kinematik on 99242815. Tickets for Kinemastik members at Euros 12. Or you can buy a ticket at the door for Euros 18. Or just drop into D’Amato, Coach and Horses or Sugu. Tickets at the door cost Euros 18 and doors open at 7pm. Support is from indie folk band Stalko.

Marcie Joy in her own words for MIO. She's linked with EDM greats including Paul Oakenfold, Roger Shah and Markus Schultz. Now, she's heading to Malta for Blackout 2011, Friday 25 Feb.

From Massachusetts to Malta, Marcie Joy, singer-songwriter, is one talented lady. She’s performing live end this week, February 25th at Blackout 2011 alongside DJ Ruby, Ira Losco, and more.

She’s had Top 10 major label dance releases worldwide, (Armada, Warner, Flashover, Blackhole,
and more) and has performed live at major parties and events around the world, (including Luminosity at Trance Energy, Armada WMC opening night with Markus Schulz, Boston Fashion Week Opening Night party, and more). Armada describes her vocals as sweet and seductive. In addition to her live performance in Malta, Marcie is working with Maltese DJ and Producer, Toby, along with some other Malta based artists, so we may get to see a whole lot more of her on the islands. Here’s Marcie in her own words for MIO.

What was your favourite record as a child?
Michael Jackson – Thriller. I made up a dance to it, and performed for kids in my neighborhood. I had the one sparkly glove, and I served Pretzels at the performance.

How did you get into dance music?
I’ve always sung. I grew up studying voice, piano, and dance, was in rock bands all through University, and trained in musical theater. I started to truly focus on songwriting for dance music about 5 years ago. I became immersed in the EDM scene, and really grew to love it. I’m grateful to have a non-EDM background because I think it brings some versatility to my songwriting. I still love to work in other genres, but EDM is my favorite. I have so many happy feelings associated with dance music

What’s been the highlight of your career till now?
Performing in Malta is definitely a highlight as a performer. As a songwriter, I really enjoyed working with Gianluca Motta. Also, I had an amazing time writing ‘World’s End’. We had a concept for the track right from the start, and saw it through to completion. It’s a track dedicated originally to Athlete’s in the World Cup, but extends beyond that to relate to people everywhere who are passionate about life.

Who do you admire? (in your genre or from any walk of life)
I love the singers who tell stories with their voices, and are distinctive both on stage and off. There are people I meet every day that I admire, from old friends to strangers. Most people are doing their best to survive and be happy. I will also mention my parents. They are always there for me to help keep my confidence up, and to remind me how far I have come. I have watched them work incredibly hard over the years, and they have inspired me to stay tough, keep pushing, and not be afraid to fall. Every step forward is an accomplishment, and sometimes we have to go backwards to go forward.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?
A nice walk in the morning, then 8 hours of studio work with no interruptions. Finishing up early evening with a sense of a job well done, and going for dinner or dancing with friends. This kind of day does not happen often.

Beer, wine or fruit juice or other?
I’ve been getting into dark beers, which I never used to like. I like notes of coffee or chocolate. I also love an espresso martini.

What are you working on at the moment?
Quite a few new things. I’ve been pushing myself stylistically, and I hope the new tracks I’m writing will have surprising elements for my audience. I’ve got some trance releases coming up, as well as some dirty cheeky vocals.

You’ve collaborated with a whole bunch of leading EDM names and have support from another who’s beaten a path to Malta, (twice now), Markus Schultz. Do you feel you have a unique sound when you collaborate or is it a case of ‘being flexible’ and learning to adapt each time?
Every collaboration is unique. There is something in a song that exists solely as a result of fusing particular individuals at a specific point in time. I learn something new from everyone I work with, and it’s always a case of being flexible, and also recognizing who can push me to be better. A good collaboration will challenge everyone involved, and have solid communication where everyone feels open to try new ideas, make mistakes, and give and take constructive criticism.

Why Malta, why now?
I’ve wanted to come to Malta for awhile now! Some of my favorite vocalists have performed on the island, (Kirsty Hawkshaw, Jennifer Rene, Emma Hewitt, among others). Everyone I have met from Malta has been so nice, and there seems to be an incredible energy and enthusiasm for dance music. It seems like a dance music utopia.

Tell us two things that fascinate you about the island.
For a small island, there are a lot of parties all the time! I wonder when people sleep? I’ve read about some of the archeological history. I’d like to see sites like The Prehistoric Temples.

Do you think a small island like Malta is a feature on the global dance calendar?
I think Malta already is of significance on the dance calendar. There are amazing events going on all the time, and the list of world renowned dance artists who have performed on the island is massive. Plus, there is some great dance music production work coming out of Malta. I think it makes sense that an island with an active club scene, and steady exposure to live performances would breed upcoming producers with an ear for what works, and what is fresh.

What should we have asked you?
I’d love to tell you about ‘Behind The Lyric’. It’s a radio show I produce featuring artists telling the stories behind their dance tracks. I created ‘Behind The Lyric’ because there are so many EDM tracks whose lyrics truly speak to me! I wanted to create a dialogue between listeners and Songwriters. Songwriters spend hours pouring their heart and souls into a tune, and it’s worth taking some time to focus on the craft of songwriting, and point out the personal tales that inspire a lyric, and the behind the scenes studio life. I love the feedback I get from listeners. There’s a deep dialogue happening between listeners and artists as a result of the show. There is a lot of mutual respect and support going around, which has been inspiring and heartwarming for me to see

What are you doing at this moment?
I’m packing my suitcase for Malta! As usual, I’ve packed too many shoes.

Music is in the air. Or will be soon. So forget Slade’s ‘Merry Christmas’ and Band Aid’s ‘Do they Know it’s Christmas’ for a moment and opt for some classical, brass band, chamber music, choral or baroque compositions instead. Go to one of the many carol concerts or festive musical events coming up. Some require tickets, so aren’t spur of the moment affairs. Others are more casual, like the lunchtime concerts you can just drop in to. See our What’s On for updates, but here a pick of the bunch of more classical Christmas music to enjoy…

Winter cheer: A feast of friends at home then head out for your entertainment.

Photo: Corey Amaro

It may be hot, hot, hot by day still in Malta, but evenings are chillier and soon we’ll be lighting fires, cracking open a bottle, filling houses with the aroma of mulled wine and making merry. Even if it’s blissful T-shirt weather till 4pm, some festive, winter traditions just have to be followed – the Christmas tree, turkey, and trimmings and trappings are as visible in Malta as in any northern climate.

It’s time to start thinking of entertaining in and entertainment out. Here again, Malta does us proud at Christmas time. See our What’s On listings for more than enough to keep you and yours busy, but here’s a resume’ of what’s in store…and if you’re an event organiser, you can list for free using our quick, online form.

There’s a host of traditions like carol concerts in the spectacular, heart-lifting setting of St John’s Co-Cathedral and the impressive St Publius Parish Church in Floriana, not to forget Mdina’s Cathedral. With 364 churches, you won’t have far to travel from dining table to evening song, midnight mass or a carol concert – they’ll be right on your doorstep. Don’t miss the gem-like atmosphere of lunchtime concerts in December at St Catherine’s of Italy, Valletta.

Christmas is also Panto season, and this year, we get a loose intepretation of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and the likes of Ebenezer Scrooge, with the usual prancing dames and a leading ‘boy’. MADC is at the Ta’ Qali tent with Scrooge from 22nd December to early January. Meanwhile, Cinderella led by another fab, trad panto group is at the Manoel Theatre from 26th.

We can relish ice-skating without the big freeze by taking a turn at Tigne’ Point’s outdoor, artificial rink. A good laugh for the kids. We don’t relish circuses unless they are without animals, so are in tune with the 20 or so NGOs who have protested about the circus in town this December. Make your own mind up on that.

We do like to promote PATCHES artisan and crafts market; its stallholders produce exquisite items with a labour of love. Catch it on 12th December at the indoor market, Merchant Street, Valletta. Have some fun and donate to charity at the same time with a visit to Inspire’s Enchanted Forest, near Marsascala, from 22nd or at the Horse Rescue Centre Christmas open day on 13th at Bidnija.

Do the crib trail at the various exhibitions – try the Auberge d’Italie, Valletta – and head as a foot passenger to Gozo for the larger than life Nativity Village just up from Mgarr Harbour in Ghajnsielem. It’s Gozo’s Bethlehem.

Music aplenty, from classical and choirs to clubbing, so browse the list and take your pick. We’re adding New Year’s Eve listings in full soon.

M3P is the first online database of Maltese music. The project will be launched during Notte Bianca in Valletta on 25 September 2010.

Memory in black and white. My brother Shaun leads his band, Syrup, in 2003.

Last autumn, in his office at the University of Hull, my colleague Toni Sant told me he wanted to set up a collaborative multimedia database of Maltese music. I did not pay much thought to the idea until he asked me if I would get involved if he secured some seed funding to kickstart the project.

Fast forward to 25th September 2010, and the Malta Music Memory Project or M3P will be launched through a symposium and networking event at St James Cavalier and followed by a concert of alternative music as part of Notte Bianca.

M3P is a totally different proposition to other projects I’ve been involved with. We’re using a wiki as the core database, and the same MediaWiki architecture and software that powers Wikipedia. Building a wiki from the ground up leaves you with no choice other than to ‘get your hands dirty’ with the technology as quickly as possible. Then, there’s initial ‘seed’ content to develop and source – enough material to use for a demo of what the wiki can become, if it truly becomes a collaborative tool. And then, a raft of issues relating to branding, editorial policies, archiving, intellectual property and live performances. Somewhere in the middle of a skype call, as more people started to engage, I realised that the project was starting to take a life of its own.

Why set up a database of Maltese music? And is there a need for it?

Perhaps the best answer to that is.. why not? In a hyper-local context like Malta, where community-building is at the core of the country’s fabric, but where online collaboration is very much in its infancy, M3P is a wonderful opportunity to understand how Maltese society is changing by having access to new tools that facilitate publishing, sharing and knowledge exchange. We can now preserve aspects of our cultural heritage that we may soon lose – perhaps because of the form of the media stored in; or simply because we need to rely on the living memory of the elderly. Like other specialist wikis, M3P will seek to preserve endangered cultural memory for future generations.

As we delve deeper, we realise how music links many disparate networks on the island, and spans over political, religious and socio-economic divides. The hope is that M3P can eventually develop into a living archive of works produced by Maltese musicians and associated aspects of popular culture, such as radio, television, theatre, visual arts, sports, dance, and other related arts and popular entertainments. And by music, we mean anything from traditional għana and band marches to hip hop, from electronica and jazz to rock and heavy metal.

M3P has many challenges. All social media utilities, including wikis, blogs and online social networking websites, support and thrive on content generated by their users, rather than a central authoritative source. Everyone with access to an Internet connection can engage and participate in building a database that will become part of the nation’s archives and memory banks. A common database that is constantly being enhanced, edited, updated. For the benefit of all users. Including those who will never update a single word on a page.

We’re a small nation. M3P may well be the first of several social experiments that can help determine how much we are actually prepared to share for the common good; and how much we care about legacy.

Malta is the insider-clubbing destination these days! Find out why and where to go...

Malta is THE insider clubbing destination

We’re not (thankfully) Ayia Napa, nor Ibiza (yet). Malta’s club scene has exploded in the last decade, but it hasn’t the tarnished, hackneyed nor ‘been there, done that’ feel to it. It’s still fresh, young and bit more insider and exclusive than the scene on offer at resorts like those above. And that’s not just our view; the Guardian UK took a shine to Malta’s take on the Med clubbing scene here.

It’s certainly on the circuit though, and the crème de la crème of DJ names know Malta well, with many of them having been back several times. We’ve featured on MIO names like Gaslamp Killer and Markus Schultz who’ve been over recently.

The difference between Malta and the Ayia Napa’s of this world is that the local crowd, the islanders, made the scene in the first place, for themselves first and foremost. Most Med resorts’ clubbing was created to sate the tourist appetites. But in Malta, clubbing has a big home market which means it well, feels a more real, more honestly appreciated and year-round affair than just a summer jamboree.

Malta also has its own cult DJs who are making waves, and have been a long time now. We’ve spoken to DJ Toby on this site, and there’s a host of others, including Miss Roberta, DJ Ruby, DJ Mag and more…

When it comes to venues, the ones below for Malta Music Week have doors open all summer…look to at individual bars in Malta’s main nightlife area, Paceville (St Julian’s) for regular and one-off sets. Our What’s On events pages will keep updated with the latest.

Malta Music Week NOW!

But, summer is clubbing’s season, let’s face it, and in Malta that means open air (so long as permits are granted to an hour that suits clubbers). Summer 2010 sees things kick off with the fourth edition of Malta Music Week (25 – 30 June), featuring Isle of MTV, Creamfields, G7 nights at Gianpula as well as Ministry of Sound. Isle of MTV last year was right up there with the best festival in Europe, and headlined by Lady GaGa and the Black Eyed Peas. Here’s the week’s programme ending with Isle of MTV….
